"Becoming" by Michelle Obama - Book Review

I'm not sure when I found out exactly that Michelle Obama was releasing a new book, but I knew immediately I had to have it. Until the Obamas were in office, I had no personal connection to politics. I didn't care much... I didn't even feel like it really affected my life. But that night in November 2008, something definitely changed and it was magical. Fourteen year-old me felt it when we cast our mock-ballots at school, when the real results came in that night, and especially when I was watching the inaugural balls on television, and saw Michelle looking absolutely stunning in her white, flower-covered dress. I knew the struggle of my ancestors, and it wasn't beyond me how significant this moment was, an indicator of how far we'd come and evidence of the idea that I really could do whatever I wanted in life. Non-fiction is not necessarily my genre of choice, but this memoir was amazing. I truly feel that Michelle bared her heart with candid honesty that I ver...

All About My Trip to Mexico!

After graduating high school in 2013, I took two trips - one to Rockville, Maryland with my god-family, and another to Atlanta, Georgia with a few friends. Four years later, after receiving my undergraduate degree, I went to Disney World in Orlando with my boyfriend (still one of my favorite trips). Now, I've graduated with my Master's degree in advertising and public relations from the University of Alabama, and to celebrate, I TOOK A CRUISE TO MEXICO!!! It was one of my favorite memories of this year, and now I want to share it with you. Before I get into it, there are two things I've learned: 1. Traveling is NOT hard. Especially cruises, which you can usually book on a payment plan. You just have to be disciplined enough to budget and set aside money for what you want to do. 2. My boyfriend is my favorite person to travel with. 🤗 Seriously. He's a very laidback person, so he lets me do whatever I want - and he ends up enjoying it, sometimes even a lot m...

Welcome to my blog!

I've had several blogs over the years, one of which I created for a class (and it gained a bit of traction while I studied abroad in undergrad: www.rhemafw.wordpress.com), but I've longed to be consistent with it. Vlogging is extremely popular today, and though I've tried that too - blogging has always been, and will always be, my first love. This blog will focus on helping young millennial women like me navigate life. My favorite books, Netflix shows, trips, fashion looks, make-up pick ups, etc. will ALL be featured here. As well as self-care tips and tricks. (that I desperately need myself!)  I recently graduated with my Master's degree in advertising and public relations, so posts related to pre-and-post grad life will be found here as well. I pray you enjoy reading my thoughts as much as I know I'll enjoy writing them. <3 Rhema
